Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our team. Key Responsibilities:

1. Mechanical Engineering Team Leadership

    • In collaboration with the EAB Leadership team, you will lead the mechanical engineering team including hiring, establishing professional development and performance criteria and ensuring the team and team players meet performance criteria.
    • Provide technical leadership by establishing and maintaining engineering standards and procedures to enable effective and efficient engineering design, documentation, and construction oversight.
    • Actively participate in engineering design activities as part of the EAB interdisciplinary design team.
    • Participate in business development activities.

2. Project Leadership:

    • Work with clients, their engineering teams and their process vendors to establish design criteria for mechanical, refrigeration and HVAC systems.
    • Oversee project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful completion.
    • Provide technical direction and mentorship to the engineering team in steam and condensate, refrigeration, hot and chilled media, compressed air, nitrogen, water supply treatment, and HVAC systems.
    • Lead the design and documentation of the systems above.
    • Lead and conduct quality assurance reviews.
    • Develop life-cycle costs and feasibility for design options.
    • Evaluate existing systems for operational improvements or available capacity for expansion.
    • Determination of loads, load diversity, and capacity for future growth.
    • Review alternatives for equipment and system configuration for client and project fit. Present pros and cons for each approach.
    • Evaluate energy efficiency and energy recovery opportunities.

3. Team Collaboration:

    • Collaboration with construction trades for constructability and value engineering opportunities.

4. Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify and implement improvements in system design and operation, EAB design processes, design tools and documentation.
    • Be an expert in industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices regarding the design of hygienic production environments, mechanical utilities and HVAC systems and utilize that expertise in EAB’s designs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  1. HVAC Systems:
    1. General plant spaces and associated mechanical code requirements.
    2. Wet and dry production spaces including calculation of loads, determination of environmental criteria, psychometrics, filtration, cooling and dehumidification, heating, and UV treatment.
    3. Equipment selection and application
    4. Ductwork and air distribution design.
    5. Use of CFD modeling in space airflow design.

2. Chilled water/glycol systems for use in cooling both process and HVAC loads:

    1. The design of these systems includes load and load diversity calculations and determination of the appropriate refrigeration system approach.
    2. Selection of chillers, pumps, valves, piping material, insulation etc.

3. Steam and condensate systems with similar work to that described above.
4. Refrigeration systems include packaged refrigeration equipment and site constructed                   systems utilizing ammonia as the refrigerant.

5. Energy use, energy recovery, and energy optimization within these systems.
6. Collaboration and coordination of this design work with clients, process engineers and                EAB architects and engineers for an integrated design.
7. Development of Revit models and contract documents for bid and construction.
8. Construction site visits to review the progress of construction and conformance with                      the contract documents.
